Welcome to my shop, a little extension of my home

Hi, I’m Stephanie. When I was a kid and a teenager I dreamed of having a shop where I could make and sell pretty things. I’ve always found joy in the small beautiful things in the world.

Life was complex growing up, with big adult problems that didn’t let me feel fully safe or relaxed. Books, art and my imagination were a big source of comfort and peace.

I especially loved Anne of Green Gables, Little Women and The Chronicles of Narnia. And when I was older, I experienced The Lord of the Rings, which made me feel such delight and hope in the midst of trying circumstances. You know what I’m talking about if you’ve read it or watched the movies. These stories still inspire much of what I create.

Now, many years later I’m amazed that even though life threw me another big curve ball in the form of a serious and disabling chronic illness, two of my dreams have come true.

The first and greatest happened before I got sick. Kevin Diamant, the man I adore, most admire, respect and trust asked me to marry him. We’ve been married now for 10 years, celebrating on August 10th.

And the second is this shop, born in the throes of illness. Put together bit by bit until there was something to see. Creating is my rebellion against an illness that reduces my capacity to that of an 85 year old woman. “85-year-olds make beautiful things. Maybe I can too”

Myalgic Encephalomyelitis and Fibromyalgia are not something that will be here forever. It has felt like forever these 8 years. Though doctors don’t know how to guide me towards healing, other people who have healed have wisdom I’m following.

I hope to be a bit of a Benjamin Button case. I felt 80 in my 20s. I want to feel 30 in my 50s. Something tells me it could happen. And if not, I believe in bodily resurrection for those who love Christ.

In the meantime, I’ll keep creating, healing and believing that beauty is a must in the world.

My goal is to fill this shop with pretty things for you to make, gifts to make your special people feel treasured, and reminders to create for fun.

Thank you so much for being here. I will teach you everything you need to know about embroidery. I hope that stopping by makes you feel at home.

Warmly,  Steph
